Welcome to the homepage of the Desert Southwest
(DSW) Chapter of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing
(NIGP). We’re so glad you found us! The DSW was granted its Charter
on May 1, 2007. We have many members and are always looking for more
professionals to join us. Current members come from many different
organizations in the Yuma area, including City of Yuma, Crane
Elementary School District, Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Yuma
Educational Materials Management Consortium, Arizona Department of
Corrections, Arizona Western College, Bureau of Reclamation, Yuma
County, Yuma Union High School District, Department of Defense,
Department of the Navy and the Somerton School District. NIGP is an
International organization that promotes the Purchasing and
Warehousing Professions in very important ways. Being a member of a
local chapter will afford you the opportunity to meet other people
in these fields. It also opens up wonderful new opportunities in the
pursuit of education dealing with Purchasing and Warehousing in the
Government sector. DSW conducts seminars right here in Yuma on a
variety of subjects related to the profession thus avoiding travel
expenses. In partnership with the Universal Public Purchasing
Certification Council (UPPCC), NIGP offers a certification program
for anyone interested in pursuing a career in Purchasing. They are
the Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) and the Certified
Professional Public Officer (CPPO). More information can be found at
